What is a 2D Graphic Designer?

A 2D Graphic Designer creates designs for graphics that are displayed on a flat surface, such as websites or printed materials. They may work with software to create vector illustrations or photographs, and sometimes collaborate with other designers in the design process. A 2D Graphic Designer typically has an understanding of typography and layout principles, as well as experience working with Photoshop and Illustrator.

What qualifications are required to become a 2D Graphic Designer?

A 2D Graphic Designer needs to have a good eye for detail, be able to work with both vector and raster graphics software, know how to create typography and illustrations, understand branding concepts, and have experience creating digital marketing materials.

What are the skills required to become a 2D Graphic Designer?

1. Excellent sketching and drawing abilities- a graphic designer must be able to quickly create rough sketches of ideas that can later be refined into final designs.

2. Proven experience working in an advertising or design agency- a 2D graphic designer should have prior industry experience, ideally at a larger company where they were given more creative freedom and responsibility. This will show them the ropes when it comes to managing projects from start to finish as well as using standardized design templates/methods.

3. Expertise with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator- most professional graphic designers use Adobe Creative Suite products such as Photoshop & Illustrator for creating graphics files (alongside other software like Inkscape). These programs are essential tools for designing logos, flyers, web art etc - if you don't know how to work with them then you'll likely struggle getting hired by a top studio/agency!

4. Proficient in English grammar & spelling- no matter what language your designs are written in (eg Japanese), having good grammatical skills and knowing how to spell correctly is always appreciated by employers so make sure you're putting these capabilities on display during your portfolio reviews!

5 . Good organisational skills - being able not only do great work but also keep track of deadlines is key for any successful Graphic Designer
