A 6G welder is a type of welding machine that can weld metals up to six inches in diameter. It has greater power than other types of welders and is used for more difficult repairs.
The qualifications to become a 6G Welder vary depending on the welding program you are applying to. However, most programs generally require that applicants have at least an associate's degree in welding or allied trade and be certified by one of the recognized certification bodies such as ABET or American Welding Society. In addition, many welders also need extensive experience working with metal and must pass a competency test.
- Advanced understanding of welding and fabrication processes
- Proven experience in metalworking, including working with welders and fabricators
- Strong arc knowledge and skills
- Excellent attention to detail, precision & accuracy
