What is a AC Ductman?

A ductman is a tradesperson who installs, repairs and maintains air conditioning and heating systems. They work in tight spaces and often use their hands to complete the job. Ductmen are typically required to have certification from the National Air-Conditioning Contractors Association (NACCA).

What qualifications are required to become a AC Ductman?

-A minimum of 2 years experience in a duct cleaning or ventilation position.

-At least 1 year working knowledge of AC systems and maintenance procedures.

-Ability to read, write, and understand basic electrical wiring diagrams.

-Experience using power tools (electric drill, saws) for repair or installation work.

What are the skills required to become a AC Ductman?

1. Strong mechanical skills- must be able to do repairs on AC units and understand how they work

2. Working knowledge of air conditioning systems- Must know what the different parts are, their function, and be familiar with repair procedures

3. Able to read schematics or diagrams- Needed in order to identify malfunctions and correct them quickly

4. Excellent problem solving abilities- Needed in order to diagnose problems quickly, find solutions from scratch when necessary, and track down maintenance schedules/instructions

5. Be comfortable working with high voltage equipment- Necessary when doing diagnostics or repairing electrical components
