What is a AC Ductman?

A ductman is a tradesperson who installs, repairs and maintains air conditioning systems. They use various tools to access the system, such as wrenches and screwdrivers. Ductmen often work in pairs so that one can stay on top of any issues while the other goes down into the unit to fix it.

What qualifications are required to become a AC Ductman?

A. A high school diploma or equivalent is required

B. Certification as a ductman from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) or American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) is preferred

C. Minimum two years experience in heating and cooling systems installation, maintenance or repair is necessary

D. Ability to read and write English well enough to complete job-related paperwork correctly

E. Must be able to pass a criminal background check

What are the skills required to become a AC Ductman?

1. Knowledge of AC systems and their components

2. Experience working with tools that are used to inspect, repair or replace AC ducts

3. Excellent communication and problem solving abilities when interacting with customers or co-workers

4. Strong mechanical skills, including the ability to use hand tools and power equipment safely
