What is a AC Technician?

A technician who repairs and maintains all types of air conditioning systems.

What qualifications are required to become a AC Technician?

1. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

2. Experience in air conditioning and heating repair is preferred, but not necessary.

3. Knowledge of basic electrical wiring principles is helpful, as are certification credentials such as the National Electric Code (NEC) or Master Electrician® title from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW).

4. Ability to read and write English well enough to understand diagnostic codes and work instructions is essential; knowledge of Spanish also may be advantageous for some areas of the country where that language predominates population-wise.

5. Good problem solving skills are important, both on technical issues with equipment and when trying to resolve customer complaints
