What is a AC Technician?

A AC Technician is a professional who specializes in repairing and maintaining electrical systems. They are responsible for testing, diagnosing, and fixing broken or malfunctioning electric appliances and fixtures.

What qualifications are required to become a AC Technician?

1. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

2. Some previous experience with electricity and basic repair skills are helpful but not mandatory.

3. Certification as an AC Technician from one of the recognized organizations such as the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) or the American Society for Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) is generally desirable but not necessary to pursue a career in this field.

4 There are no set requirements concerning education beyond high school, although many technicians have obtained technical degrees in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, business administration or related disciplines.
