What is a AC Technician?

A AC Technician is someone who repairs and maintains air conditioning units. They may also be responsible for troubleshooting problems with the unit, according to Air Conditioning Contractors of America. A technician typically has a degree in mechanical engineering or another technical discipline relevant to air conditioning repair work. They must have strong problem-solving skills and knowledge of air conditioning mechanics, systems and equipment.

What qualifications are required to become a AC Technician?

1. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

2. Technical training in AC technology and/or related field is recommended, but not necessary for employment as an AC Technician.

3. Good problem solving skills are essential to be successful as an AC Technician; critical thinking abilities are a must!

4. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills; working with others in a team environment is required on a daily basis
