What is a AC Technician?

A AC Technician is someone who services and repairs ac units. They might also be called an HVAC technician, or simply a “technician”. A technician would typically have certification from the National Electrical Code (NEC) and/or professional membership in an organization such as The Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE). Some basic knowledge of electricity and electronics is necessary for most technicians, however additional experience may lead to specialized training in areas such as air conditioning service design or troubleshooting specific issues with ac systems

What qualifications are required to become a AC Technician?

A. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

B. Certification as a certified electrician, heating and air conditioning technician, or plumber may be required depending on the employer's hiring requirements.

C. Knowledge of electrical wiring principles and systems are essential for AC technicians; many employers also require proficiency in basic computer programs such as Internet browsing and word processing..

D. Exceptional technical skills with tools such as diagnostic equipment, arc welder, power saws etc., are highly desirable for any position within the field of HVAC/R technology .....
