What is a AC Technician?

A AC Technician is a person who repairs, installs and maintains air conditioning units. They must be familiar with the different types of AC systems as well as have knowledge in electrical wiring. Additionally, they need to be able to read schematics and understand how electricity works.

What qualifications are required to become a AC Technician?

1. Must have a minimum of an AC Technician Certificate from an accredited program

2. Must be able to read and interpret wiring diagrams

3. Familiar with basic tools and equipment used in the installation, maintenance or repair of air conditioning systems

4. Basic knowledge of refrigerants (R-134a, R-12 etc) and their properties

5. Experience working with computers
