What is a AC Technician?

An AC technician is a professional who repairs, installs and maintains air conditioning systems. They may also be responsible for maintaining the cooling system's components such as filters and fans. A typical career path for an AC technician includes attending technical school, gaining experience through self-employment or employment with other businesses before becoming certified by either the National Air Conditioning Contractors Association (NACCA) or another organization. After certification, technicians work in both commercial and residential settings.

What qualifications are required to become a AC Technician?

A. A high school diploma or equivalent is required

B. Certifications in AC/Heating/Air Conditioning from an accredited program are desired, but not mandatory

C. Experience installing and maintaining air conditioning systems is a plus

D. Strong mathematics skills are necessary to understand schematics and calculations involved with repairing or replacing HVAC units

E. Ability to read basic engineering drawings is helpful

What are the skills required to become a AC Technician?

2. Knowledge of electrical wiring and equipment
