A AC Technician is a technician who specializes in working with air conditioning and heating systems. What qualifications are required to become a AC Technician?

1. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

2. Experience in air conditioning and refrigeration repair is a must, as are good problem solving skills and manual dexterity with tools.

3. Must be able to read schematics and understand wiring diagrams for AC systems, along with the ability to troubleshoot problems onsite quickly using basic equipment such as meters, test leads and multimeters

4. Typically requires at least 1 year of experience working on AC systems before being eligible for certification through an organization like the National Air Conditioning Contractors Association (NACCA) or American Society of Heating, Refrigerating & Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). 5. Some states also require workers who install or service central cooling units have additional training specific to this type of work
