A typical job duties of an AC technician include checking the system’s components for wear and tear, replacing filters if needed, adjusting temperature settings as necessary, and troubleshooting malfunctions.

What qualifications are required to become a AC Technician?

1. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

2. Experience in a home appliance repair environment is helpful, but not mandatory.

3. Basic knowledge of AC systems and repairs is necessary; additional certification may be beneficial such as the National Home Appliance Technician Certification Board (NHATCB) professional certification program or the International Heating & Cooling Institute (IHI) certified technician credential program .

4. Applied mathematics and physics are useful pre-requisites for many AC jobs, though they are not always needed specifically for air conditioning work .

5. Ability to read schematics, understand wiring diagrams, troubleshoot problems using basic tools and test equipment is essential
