Marsh McLennan is seeking candidates for the following position based in the Urbandale office: Staff Accountant II What can you expect Dynamic culture and collaborative team environment Opportunity to make an impact in a dynamic role, in which no two days are the same What is in it for you Opportunity to grow your knowledge of the industry, through partnership with various internal and external stakeholders Excellent opportunities for long-term growth within the company Opportunity to work for a leading global company with great benefits We will count on you to: Duties may vary, but include: Prepare journal entries, money moves, payments, interpret client billing/invoicing needs, administrative system accounting reports and/or consolidated statements Analyze, update with highest degree of accuracy, and maintain the systems which impact the general ledger accounts and/or client insured records General ledger account reconciliations, variance research and adjusting journal entries as needed Assist with timely and accurate monthly and quarterly close and financial statement delivery Assist with the development, implementation and documentation of internal and external accounting and operating policies, procedures and process improvements for general accounting functions Ensure compliance with corporate policies, carrier agreements, SOX procedures, SSAE16 procedures, tax regulations, local GAAP and US GAAP and local statutory regulations (as applicable) regarding financial matters Identify, create, and evaluate various team processes for both on and offshore colleagues. Identify process efficiencies and liaise with various internal teams What you need to have: Intermediate or better proficiency with MS Excel Analytical and problem-solving mind-set Strong communication skills, both written and verbal Be deadline driven able to meet inflexible month-end and quarterly targets What makes you stand out: Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related discipline Prior financial statement preparation experience Prior experience working within the insurance industry Experience with Oracle
