A Acupuncture Therapist is a person who has completed an accredited acupuncture program and meets specific requirements in order to provide acupuncture therapy. They typically have a bachelor's degree in massage, acupressure or Oriental medicine from an accredited school, as well as three years of clinical experience working with patients receiving traditional Chinese medical treatments such as acupuncture.
1. A minimum of 2 years experience working with acupuncture in a clinical setting is required to become an acupuncturist.
2. Acupuncture certification from an accredited organization such as the American Association of Oriental Medicine (AAAOM) or National Certification Board for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCBAAOM) is necessary to practice acupuncture.
3. Knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine principles, including theory, diagnosis and treatment methods for common ailments are essential qualities for becoming a good acupuncturist.
4.. Individuals must be licensed by their state board of Healing Arts if they wish to provide medical services through acupuncture; this varies by location .
5. Excellent communication skills are also important, as patients often have questions about treatments that need addressing promptly
1. Knowledge of the Chinese Whang-tou acupuncture points and how to use them for therapeutic purposes.
2. Excellent interpersonal skills, as Acupuncture Therapists work with patients one on one often times.
3. Strong working knowledge of Western medical treatments that can be used in conjunction with acupuncture such as pain relief medications or other complementary therapies when necessary (e.g., massage).
4.. Ability to remain calm under pressure while treating patients, even during difficult sessions or when there is a lack of response from the patient due to pain/anxiety levels etc...

The Employee shall perform Occupational Therapist duties, the scope of which shall include but is not limited to: Key Responsibilities: Perform relevant and necessary occupational therapy assessments and evaluations and write corresponding reports. Design and implement structured and individualized treatment occupational therapy programs to teach each child. Collect data and maintain documentation pertaining to each child’s program. Provide ongoing guidance within each client’s individual program, ensuring each client’s continued progress towards realizing their maximum potential. Communicate questions, child’s progress, or other feedback to parents, Clinical ABA Supervisors, Case Manager and ABA therapists. Review behavior management techniques to ensure consistency in therapy, while at the same time reducing the occurrence of maladaptive behaviors. Participate in clinic meetings, workshops, and training seminars as necessary. Educate and train ABA Therapists in occupational therapy techniques utilized for each child, in order to ensure consistency of interventions. Write progress reports to secure funding from insurance agencies using sound occupational therapy terminology. Write school observation reports highlighting the child’s strengths and areas of need, as well as recommendations for school staff, for the school and the child’s family. Assist in answering questions using a professional tone. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co–workers, supervisors, and the general public. Promote equality and diversity as part of the culture of the organization. Arrive on time to all scheduled sessions; minimal cancellations. Achieve performance goals / objectives as specified in the performance plan. Maintain accurate and timely records including timesheets and reports. Assist with other administrative tasks when required. Represent Maharat professionally and ethically. Provide such other services as are ancillary to the foregoing or as the Employer may reasonably request (collectively, the “Services”). Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy. Valid DHA License Minimum 2years of work experience as an Occupational Therapist Be creative and have problem–solving skills –to design programs appropriate to different learning styles Enthusiastic with high–energy levels. Be able to work independently, as well as part of the Multi–disciplinary team.
