A architect is a professional who designs and oversees the construction of buildings or other structures. Architects typically have a degree in architecture, but may also have an associate's degree or some experience working as a draftsman or engineer. They often work with clients to come up with ideas for new projects, then help oversee the design process from beginning to end.
The minimum qualifications for becoming an architect are a degree in architecture or related field and two years of professional experience. Additional requirements may include certification by the American Institute of Architects (AIA).
