An assistant nurse is a healthcare professional who assists registered nurses in providing care to patients. They may perform tasks such as bathing, dressing and feeding patients, helping with transfers or ambulations, and administering medication. Assistant nurses typically have an associate's degree in nursing or a related field.
1. A degree in nursing is required to become an assistant nurse.
2. Certification as a registered professional nurse (RPN) or clinical specialist in geriatric nursing is often required for assistantship positions.
3. Previous experience working as a nurses aide, certified home health aid, or similar position may be necessary to qualify for an assistant position.
4. Assistant nurses work under the direct supervision of licensed RNs and typically have expertise in one specific area of nursing care such as pediatric nurs ing, critical care Nursing, or surgical Nursing .
5.. Assistants must be able to provide excellent patient care through compassion and understanding while maintaining professionalism at all times
The skills required to become an Assistant Nurse vary depending on the level of qualification that is sought.
