What is a Auto/Car Mechanic?

A car mechanic is a technician who repairs and maintains automobiles. They may work on cars in a garage, or they may be self-employed and work out of their own shop. A typical job duties for a car mechanic include diagnosing problems with the engine, checking fluids levels, changing brakes and tires, adjusting headlights and taillights, repairing damage done to bodywork by accidents or everyday use, installing new parts including transmissions and engines

What qualifications are required to become a Auto/Car Mechanic?

1. A minimum of two years experience working on cars and/or motorcycles is required to become a car mechanic.

2. Auto mechanics must have good problem-solving skills and be able to work with various tools and machines in order to diagnose problems, repair damages, or install new parts on vehicles.

3. Mechanics also need strong mechanical knowledge in order to identify malfunctions within engines, transmissions, brakes, etc., as well as the necessary diagnostic equipment needed for repairs.

4. Finally, auto mechanics typically require an Associates degree (in Mechanical Engineering) or a Bachelor's degree in automotive engineering from accredited universities before being hired into the profession full time; some states may also require certification by an organization such as ABME (American Board of Motor Engineers).
