A car mechanic is someone who specializes in repairing and maintaining cars. They may work on a variety of different makes and models of cars, as well as motorcycles. Car mechanics typically have a degree in automotive engineering or another related field.
A person must have a high school diploma or equivalent, be at least 18 years old, and pass a state licensing exam. Many auto mechanics also complete an apprenticeship program to learn the trade from someone with more experience.
