What is a Auto/Car Mechanic?

A car mechanic is someone who fixes cars. They may work on engines, transmissions, and other mechanical problems with a car. Some mechanics also do repairs on motorcycles and bicycles.

What qualifications are required to become a Auto/Car Mechanic?

1. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

2. Knowledge of engines, wiring diagrams, and repair procedures is necessary for most auto mechanics jobs.

3. Auto mechanics must be able to read and write English well enough to understand Repair Orders and other related paperwork.

4. Some experience working with cars and some mechanical knowledge is helpful but not mandatory for many positions as training can usually be provided on the job (depending on the company).

5 . Mechanics who work in collision centers typically have additional certification such as a CERTIFIED AUTO TECHNICIAN program which covers topics such as injury prevention, handling insurance claims, computer skills etc
