A car mechanic is a person who repairs and maintains cars. They may work on engines, transmissions, brakes, or other mechanical parts of the vehicle. A certification from a professional organization such as The National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) can help employers identify someone qualified to perform auto mechanics tasks.
The qualifications for a car mechanic vary depending on the state in which they work, but generally candidates must have at least an associate's degree or equivalent from a recognized school of automotive technology.
