What qualifications are required to become a Auto/Car Mechanic?

1. A high school diploma or equivalent is required to become a car mechanic.

2. Many auto mechanics complete an associate's degree program before becoming certified by the National Automobile Technician Education Foundation (NATEF).

3. Car mechanics must have strong technical knowledge in automotive engines, transmissions and systems as well as basic tooling and repair skills.
