What is a Block Mason?

A Block Mason is a Freemason who has been raised to the rank of Master Mason in one block.

What qualifications are required to become a Block Mason?

A candidate for membership in the Order of Block Masons must meet several qualifications. First, he or she must be a resident of one of the states that have granted jurisdiction to this fraternal order. Second, he or she must be a citizen either by birthright or naturalization and have been so for at least five years preceding application for membership. Third, there must be evidence on file with the lodge indicating an understanding and knowledge of Masonry as prescribed by ancient custom and usage; fourth, good moral character is essential; fifth, ability to read Masonic literature.

What are the skills required to become a Block Mason?

-A working knowledge of basic masonry tools and techniques

-The ability to read a blueprint or plan and execute the instructions accordingly

-Good problem solving skills, including being able to identify missing pieces in a puzzle and figuring out how they fit together

-Thoroughness, accuracy, attention to detail; willingness to take initiative when needed
