What is a Building Electrician?

A building electrician is someone who specializes in installing, maintaining and repairing electrical systems. They may also be responsible for wiring new buildings or retrofitting old ones. A typical job duties of a building electrician include troubleshooting problems with lights and appliances, testing circuits and wire connections, inspecting fire alarms and smoke detectors, setting up lighting fixtures, installing switches and outlets ,and more.

What qualifications are required to become a Building Electrician?

A person who wants to become a building electrician should have at least an associate's degree in electrical engineering or another related field. They should also have experience working with wiring and circuit boards, as well as be able to read and understand blueprints. Additionally, they must be familiar with safe work practices when it comes to electricity and know how to use tools such as drills, saws, torches and screwdrivers.
