What is a Butcher?

A butcher is someone who cuts and prepares meat for consumption. A typical job of a butcher would be to cut up carcasses, trim off fat, remove veins and membranes from the beef, tie it all into neat packages or rounds with twine (called tripes), then hang it up to cure in salt or brine.

What qualifications are required to become a Butcher?

1. A butcher must be able to dress and cut meats accurately.

2. They must have strong hands and good accuracy when cutting meat.

3. Must have a working knowledge of the anatomy of animals, including how their muscles work together to produce movement on an animal carcass during slaughtering or processing..

4. Good customer service skills are required as many butchers work in small businesses with limited staffing levels...
