A CAD/CAM Engineer is a professional engineer who specializes in the use of computer-aided design and construction (CAD/CAM) software to create 3D models, drawings, and simulations for engineering projects. They typically work on designs for products such as airplanes, cars, medical devices, or buildings. CAD/CAM Engineers might also be responsible for training other engineers in how to use these tools.
1. A degree in engineering or a related field is required
2. Experience working with CAD/CAM software is preferred
3. Familiarity with 3D printing and other manufacturing processes is desirable
4. Expertise in specific areas of CAD/CAM design, such as structural analysis or product development, are advantageous
5. Strong problem solving skills and the ability to work independently are also important
- Strong mathematical ability, including proficiency in calculus and linear algebra
- Experience using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD) or CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks)
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and common materials used in the industry
