What is a Chef?

A chef is an experienced cook who specializes in food preparation and serves as head of a kitchen. A chef typically has a bachelor's degree in culinary arts, although some have additional training or experience. Chefs often work for restaurants, hotels, caterers or private home chefs. They are responsible for the entire cooking process from start to finish - from menus planning and recipe development to dish production and serving.

What qualifications are required to become a Chef?

1. Minimum 3 years cooking experience

2. Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team of cooks

3. Proven proficiency in culinary techniques such as sauce making, poaching, braising, grilling etc.

4. Excellent customer service skills both verbal and written; able to work independently with little supervision

5. Knowledgeable about regional cuisine

What are the skills required to become a Chef?

1. Knowledge of culinary techniques and preparations

2. Proven experience in a professional kitchen or catering company

3. Strong organizational skills, including the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously

4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both within the kitchen and with guests/customers

5. Passion for cooking
