What is a Chemical Engineer?

A chemical engineer is a professional who designs, conducts research, and supervises the manufacture of chemicals. They work in industries such as oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, food production, fertilizer manufacturing and other areas that require knowledge of chemistry. Chemical engineers typically have a degree in engineering or science with an emphasis on chemistry. Many also hold doctoral degrees (e.g., PhD).

What qualifications are required to become a Chemical Engineer?

A bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from a recognized university is typically required. A Master's or Doctoral degree may also be desirable, but is not necessary.
