JOB DESCRIPTION • Collect field samples • Confer with chemical engineers, product managers, customers and the media • Work to increase the efficiency of research • Use computer modeling to target the most promising areas for crude oil exploration • Perform process control duties at refineries • Track oil leaked in a spill • Develop catalysts for use in the refining process Analyzing samples from various sources to provide information on compounds or quantities of compounds present; using analytical techniques and instrumentation, such as gas and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), ion chromatography, electrochromatography and spectroscopy (infrared and ultraviolet, amongst others);interpreting data and adhering to strict guidelines on documentation when recording data; reporting scientific results; using a range of analytical techniques, instrumentation and software; developing techniques for the analysis of drug products and chemicals; working collaboratively in cross-functional teams; being aware of, and keeping up to date with, health and safety issues; validating methods and equipment. - Analyze organic or inorganic compounds to determine chemical or physical properties, composition, structure, relationships, or reactions, using chromatography, spectroscopy, or spectrophotometry techniques - Maintain laboratory instruments to ensure proper working order and trouble shoot malfunctions when needed. - Develop, improve, or customize products, equipment, formulas, processes, or analytical methods. - Conduct quality control tests. Direct, coordinate, or advise personnel in test procedures for analyzing components or properties of materials. Prepare test solutions, compounds, or reagents for laboratory personnel to conduct tests. Compile and analyze test information to determine process or equipment operating efficiency or to diagnose malfunctions. - Write technical papers or reports or prepare standards and specifications for processes, facilities, products, or tests. Induce changes in composition of substance by introducing heat, light, energy, or chemical catalysts for quantitative or qualitative analysis.

Salary ranges will depend on your skills and experience. You can expect a starting salary of AED 3000, which could go up to a monthly wage of AED 4000.
