What is a Chiller Technician?

A Chiller Technician is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of cooling systems in a facility. What qualifications are required to become a Chiller Technician?

1. A minimum of an Associate's degree in mechanical engineering or related field is required.

2. Certification as a refrigeration technician from one of the national organizations (AAMET, NASCRA, etc.) is also recommended.

3. Experience working with chillers and HVAC systems is desirable but not mandatory for this position.

4. Familiarity with computer-aided design software programs such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks would be beneficial due to the complexity of many Chiller Technician jobsites and equipment installations/repairs..

5 . Demonstrated knowledge and experience troubleshooting chilled water system issues would be advantageous
