What is a Chiller Technician?

A Chiller Technician is a person who installs, maintains and repairs refrigeration equipment. They may also be responsible for training employees in the use of refrigeration systems.

What qualifications are required to become a Chiller Technician?

A. A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required for many entry-level jobs in the trades, including Chiller Technician.

B. Some knowledge of refrigeration systems and principles is usually necessary, as well as a good sense of math and science.

C. Technicians generally need strong manual dexterity and excellent problem-solving skills to diagnose problems with chillers and repair them accordingly.

D. Many technicians also have certification from one or more professional organizations such as ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Engineers) or NATE (National Association of Thermostat Educators).

E.(Optional) Certification in advanced cooling technologies like liquid nitrogen can give technicians an edge when competing for high-demand positions in the field

What are the skills required to become a Chiller Technician?

1. Knowledge of refrigeration and air conditioning systems

2. Experience in repairing or maintaining these systems

3. Ability to read schematics and diagrams, as well as troubleshoot problems
