What is a Civil Labor?

A civil labor is a type of work that does not require a license, certification or registration from an occupational or professional agency. This includes many jobs in the tourism and hospitality industry.

What qualifications are required to become a Civil Labor?

1. A high school diploma or equivalent is required to become a Civil Labor.

2. Individuals must be physically and mentally able to work in an outdoor environment for long periods of time without rest, shelter, or medical care.

3. Experience working with construction materials and equipment is preferred but not necessary; individuals who have worked as laborers in the past are usually accepted into the program easily.

4. Applicants must pass a criminal background check and drug test before being hired by civil labor companies statewide.*

5. Individuals typically stay with one civil labor company for six months to two years, at which point they may move on to other opportunities within the industry
