What is a Civil Supervisor?

A civil supervisor is a person who is responsible for overseeing the activities of employees in a government agency. They are typically assigned to manage and improve employee productivity by creating an environment that is conducive to work.

What qualifications are required to become a Civil Supervisor?

1. A college degree in civil engineering or a related field is required.

2. Several years of experience as a civil engineer are preferred, but not necessary.

3. Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills are essential for the position, along with strong organizational abilities and written and oral communication skills.

4. The supervisor must be able to lead teams of engineers through complex projects while maintaining tight deadlines; have excellent customer service skills; possess knowledge about construction codes and regulations specific to their jurisdiction; be proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); have access to appropriate software tools/programs such as GIS mapping programs etc.; understand project management concepts including resource allocation planning; know how to effectively manage conflict both internally within team memberships as well as externally with clients or other stakeholders involved in the project(s). 5 . Supervision requires sound technical judgment combined with good business sense – being able to make informed decisions quickly under pressure whilst balancing conflicting demands from multiple sources
