What is a Cladding Worker?

A Cladding Worker is a person responsible for the installation of cladding and insulation on buildings. They may also be involved in maintenance work on building claddings.

What qualifications are required to become a Cladding Worker?

A. A high school diploma or equivalent is generally required for most jobs in the construction trades, but experience and training are also important. Cladding workers often need skills in carpentry, metalworking, and welding.

B. Training programs typically include on-the-job instruction and may last anywhere from a few weeks to several months. Many employers require cladding workers to have certification from an accredited trade organization such as the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

C. Most cladding workers wear heavy safety gear including helmets, goggles, gloves, boots/shoes/bootsie suits, and guard rails while working with lead paint or other hazardous materials. In some cases they might be required to use Tyvek suits if there is potential exposure to asbestos fibers or radioactive material
