A Continental cook is a person who cooks cuisine from the countries that make up continental Europe. These countries include Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, The Netherlands and Spain.

What qualifications are required to become a Continental Cook?

1. Minimum 2 years cooking experience in a Continental kitchen

2. Strong knowledge of wine, spirits and cuisine specific to the region you wish to work in

3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

4. Proven ability to lead teams both physically and mentally through stressful situations

5. Ability to consistently produce high quality food

What are the skills required to become a Continental Cook?

-A Continental Cook must be able to proficiently prepare a variety of French and Italian cuisine. They will need to know how to cook meats, seafoods, vegetables, pastas and desserts. Additionally, they should have knowledge in wine pairing so that their dishes can taste delicious with the right wine selection.

1) Proven experience preparing French or Italian cuisine

2) Knowledge of cooking meats (chicken breasts/steaks), seafoods (clams/prawns), vegetables (broccoli rabe/zucchini flowers), pastas & noodles as well as dessert recipes

3) Expertise in wine pairings – knowing which wines go great with certain foods based on country origin; e.g., Beaujolais nouveau for beef bourguignon from Burgundy region in France etc... 4) Ability to work quickly under pressure - ensuring food is correctly cooked without overcooking or burning flavours 5) Patience – tolerating imperfections such as burnt onions or overdone pasta
