A crane mechanic is a person who repairs, maintains, and operates cranes. They may also be responsible for training new crane operators. Crane mechanics typically work in factories or construction sites.
In order to become a Crane Mechanic, you will need an associate's degree in engineering or technology. You must also have two years of experience working with cranes and be knowledgeable about safety protocols. Additionally, you will likely need certification from the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
- Strong mechanical skills
- Good problem solving abilities
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
- Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and machine tools
