What is a Crane Operator?

A crane operator is a person who operates a crane. They may be responsible for loading and unloading goods, or transporting people or materials.

What qualifications are required to become a Crane Operator?

1. A minimum of 2 years experience operating cranes is required to become a Crane Operator.

2. Must be able to read and understand safety procedures, regulatory requirements and company policy related to crane operation.

3. Must have good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination in order to operate the controls on the crane safely.

4. Able to stay calm under pressure while working with co-workers and machines, maintaining a safe work environment for all involved parties including pedestrians or motorists nearby

What are the skills required to become a Crane Operator?

1. Excellent coordination and dexterity required – cranes are large, powerful machines that require a lot of hand-eye coordination to operate them safely.

2. Strong manual labor skills – many crane operators do the majority of their work manually, moving heavy equipment around on site.

3. High attention to detail – because every move made by a crane can have serious consequences, correct timing and precision is essential for safety sake.

4. Good problem solving skills -crane operators must be able to quickly assess situations and come up with solutions when problems arise in order to keep the machinery running smoothly. 5 . Must be comfortable working outside in all types of weather conditions -crane operators often spend long hours outdoors at construction sites or other remote locations where temperatures can vary wildly from day-to-day
