What is a Driver?

A driver is someone who uses a vehicle, typically a car or truck, to transport people and goods. A driver may be employed by an individual company or as part of a transportation network such as Uber.

What qualifications are required to become a Driver?

A driver's license is required to operate a motor vehicle. Most states require drivers to have at least a learner's permit or an intermediate driver's license before they can receive a full driver's license. Some states, like New York and California, also require applicants for new licenses to pass a driving test. Drivers must be at least 18 years old, possess liability insurance coverage in the event of injury while operating a motor vehicle and meet other eligibility requirements depending on the state.
