•Installing and maintaining fire alarm systems and emergency exit light system and Fm 200 •Inspecting commercial buildings for fire hazards such as blocked exits or malfunctioning equipment •Maintaining records of fire alarm system activity and other fire safety measures in residential and commercial buildings •Testing and repairing fire alarm systems and communication systems in commercial buildings.

What is a Fire Alarm Technician?

A Fire Alarm Technician is a person who installs, repairs and maintains fire alarms. They may also be responsible for investigating fires that are triggered by alarms.

What qualifications are required to become a Fire Alarm Technician?

1. A minimum of an associate's degree in Fire Science or a related field is required.

2. Certification as a fire alarm technician by either the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) or the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) is also necessary.

3. Experience installing, operating, maintaining and repairing fire alarms is desirable but not mandatory; training in these topics will be provided during employment with most agencies/organizations involved in fire safety management .

4. Familiarity with computer systems used to manage alarm systems is beneficial, though not essential . 5.. Ability to read and write English fluently
