What is a Fitness Trainer?

A fitness trainer is someone who helps people stay physically active and healthy. They may provide guidance on exercises, nutritional advice, or psychological support to help individuals reach their fitness goals. A fitness trainer also often has a degree in exercise science or physical training.

What qualifications are required to become a Fitness Trainer?

1. A minimum of 2 years working experience in a fitness setting is required to become a Fitness Trainer.

2. Must have an understanding and knowledge of anatomy, physiology, biomechanics and nutrition for athletes.

3. certification as either NSCA-CPT or CPT may be required by some employers before hiring a trainer.

4. Familiarity with various exercise equipment such as treadmills, ellipticals, resistance bands/ machines etc.. essential which can be acquired through accredited training programs or individual instructor coaching sessions .

5 Certifications offered include: ACE Certified Personal Trainer (ACE), NASM certified personal trainer (NCPTR), National Strength & Conditioning Association Specialist credential (NSCS) and American College of Sports Medicine Functional Training Specialist credential(ACSM FTSC).
