What is a Furniture Carpenter?

A furniture carpenter is a skilled tradesman who builds and repairs furniture. They may also design new pieces of furniture. A furniture carpenter typically has an apprenticeship under their belt before becoming certified by the National Board for Certified Furniture Builders (NBCFB). This certification ensures that they have learned all the required skills to safely build and repair furnitures.

What qualifications are required to become a Furniture Carpenter?

1. A Furniture Carpenter must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

2. The Furniture Carpenter must be able to read and understand blueprints, drawings, and specifications of furniture construction.

3. The Furniture Carpenter must have excellent manual dexterity in order to work with woodworking tools including hand saws, routers, chisels etc..

4. Experience working with different types of woods is a major requirement for the position as are good eye sight and coordination skills when handling power tools safely .

5 Much experience in carpentry is also desirable but not required
