1. The ability to read and understand blueprints or drawings of furniture pieces.

2. The ability to cut and join wood using a handsaw, jigsaw, or other sawing tool.

3. Knowledge of how to construct different types of frames for furniture pieces using screws, nails, or wooden dowels as joints.

4. Expertise in carpentry techniques such as mortising (using chisels), dovetailing (joints made with dovetail notches on the edge of two boards), and assembling items from separate parts by screwing them together tight . 5 . Good coordination skills are also essential because many tasks involved in chairmaking – like handling large chunks of wood - require considerable physical stamina
