What is a General welder?

A General welder is a skilled worker who welds metals and other materials together using an arc welding technique. They are responsible for ensuring that structures, products, and equipment are properly constructed by welding them together in accordance with specifications. A General welder is also required to have knowledge of various types of metalworking processes, as well as the necessary safety precautions when working with molten metal.

What qualifications are required to become a General welder?

• A high school diploma or equivalent is generally required.

• The ability to read, write and understanding basic math are essential skills.

• Experience in welding is a plus, but not necessary. • Basic mechanical knowledge will help as well.
