What is a Graphic Designer?

A graphic designer is an artist who specializes in designing the layout and graphics for printed materials, such as magazines, brochures, or ad campaigns. They often work with clients to develop concepts that capture a brand's unique personality and ethos. Graphic designers may also design webpages, logos, or illustrations. In addition to traditional artistry skills like drawing and painting, many graphic designers are skilled in software programs like Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator.

What qualifications are required to become a Graphic Designer?

1. A degree in graphic design is generally required, but not always.

2. Experience working with graphics software such as Adobe Photoshop and Inkscape are helpful, but aren't necessary.

3. Strong attention to detail and the ability to think creatively are essential qualities for a good designer.

4.. Familiarity with web development frameworks (such as Foundation or Bootstrap) can be beneficial if you're creating digital/web-based designs that need cross-browser compatibility assurance or display on various devices (phone, tablet etc.).

5.. Being able to work independently while possessing excellent communication skills is also important - being able to give feedback effectively and take criticism well is key in this industry!

What are the skills required to become a Graphic Designer?

1. Strong attention to detail and a knack for making things look good from both a visual and functional standpoint

2. Excellent skills in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator or another vector-based design program

3. Knowledge of typography, layout principles and conventions –both print/web specific and more broadly applicable standards such as A4 vs US Letter size etc

4. Ability to think critically about how graphics will be used across different media platforms (print, web, social media)

5. Proven experience working with clients either directly or through an agency
