A graphic designer is someone who creates graphics for a company or individual. They may create flyers, advertisements, and website graphics. A graphic designer also helps to develop branding for a business.
A degree in graphic design is required. Familiarity with Photoshop and InDesign are beneficial, but not mandatory. Some knowledge of typography and layout is also desirable. Good communication skills are essential; designers must be able to work collaboratively with others on projects. Finally, good judgment when it comes to aesthetics is important as a designer will often have to make decisions about how an image or piece of text looks before the final product goes into production.
1. Excellent design skills, including a strong eye for detail and the ability to create original concepts
2. The ability to use various software programs, such as Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator, to produce high-quality graphics
3. Knowledge of typography and layout principles – how specific elements on a page affect the overall look and feel
4. Expertise in branding/marketing concepts – knowing how to position your designs within an industry or marketplace, as well as develop effective marketing campaigns around them
