What is a Gypsum Carpenter?

A Gypsum Carpenter is someone who installs gypsum board and plaster in buildings.

What qualifications are required to become a Gypsum Carpenter?

1. A valid driver's license is required.

2. Some basic hand tools are necessary, including a hammer, saws, chisels and sandpaper.

3. Gypsum must be cut into small blocks in order to make it mortarboard-width or narrower for use as drywall compound or ceiling plaster; this is typically done with a hacksaw blade mounted on an angle grinder set at high speed..

4 . As with all construction trades, experience working with heavy equipment (cranes, bulldozers) and being able to read blueprints/plans are highly desirable qualities in a gypsum Carpenter.. 5 . The American National Standards Institute has established rigorous training requirements that must be met by anyone wishing to become certified as a Gypsum Carpenter through its certification program - which includes both classroom instruction and hands-on fieldwork
