What is a Head Chef?

A head chef is responsible for the overall operation and management of a restaurant. They make decisions on what food to serve, how it should be cooked, and who will prepare it. Head chefs also oversee all aspects of kitchen staff including scheduling, training, and morale.

What qualifications are required to become a Head Chef?

1. Minimum 2 years of experience in a professional kitchen, including at least 1 year as a head chef or equivalent senior position.

2. Excellent culinary skills and knowledge of food composition and preparation techniques.

3. Proven ability to lead teams and manage resources effectively.

4. Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail; demonstrated excellence in creating innovative dishes from traditional fare . Ÿ5 Experience leading catered events is advantageous but not required

What are the skills required to become a Head Chef?

1. Proven experience in a professional kitchen, ideally as Head Chef or Sous Chef

2. Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

3. Strong knowledge of culinary techniques and ingredients, including how to cook specific dishes efficiently and accurately

4. Demonstrated creativity in sourcing new food items or improving existing recipes for unique flavour combinations 5. Exceptional customer service skills
