A Landscape Engineer is a professional who specializes in land use planning and design. They may work for municipalities, transportation agencies, or private companies. A landscape engineer typically has a degree in civil engineering or related field and several years of experience working with land use plans and designs. Some tasks that might be handled by a landscape engineer include developing zoning ordinances, creating green infrastructure planters/streetscapes, designing parks & trails systems, studying natural resource impacts (such as wetlands), consulting on water usage issues such as stormwater management etc...
1. A bachelor's degree in horticulture, landscape architecture, plant science or a related field is generally required for admission to graduate school and professional practice as a landscape engineer.
2. Professional membership with an appropriate national professional association (such as the American Society of Landscape Architects [ASLA], National Arborist Association [NAA], etc.) is also highly desirable and may be required for licensing by some states.
3. At least five years' experience working professionally in landscape engineering are typically necessary before applying to graduate school or seeking full licensure; this includes both design work and running project teams on complex projects.
4. Skills in surveying, mapping, construction management/specification drafting, Photoshop/GIS software application usage and firm understanding of traditional garden designing principles are essential prerequisites for most landscaping jobs today - even entry-level positions often require formal education beyond high school level standards at minimum!
5.. Strong verbal & written communication skills along with excellent problem solving abilities are key assets that will serve you well throughout your career path as a landscape engineer

Job Summary The Landscape Engineer is responsible for managing a portfolio of maintenance clients and managing new landscape installations. This will be a combined role of the typical enhancement Engineer and an account Engineers roles. He/She will supervise all field personnel as required to successfully complete the project on schedule and within budget. Individuals with excellent communication, customer service, landscape management, and landscape installation skills. Must be able to oversee landscape installations, design tasks, manage, communicate, and coordinate activities of subcontractors and in-house employees. This will be a full-time permanent position. Core Responsibilities • Coordinates and supervises all landscape installation and maintenance activities, including but not limited to understanding the sale and value creation expected, creating project schedules, mitigating risks, delivering such that customers become raving fans, managing up and laterally with team members, and the like • Directs all field personnel to achieve completion of the project on schedule, within budget, with quality workmanship that conforms to original plans and specifications • Involvement with hiring, training, and developing team members • Orders materials as necessary throughout the process • Develop and maintains positive relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers and BWS team members • Prepares, schedules and supervises completion of a final punch list • Promotes job site safety, encourages safe work practices and rectifies job site hazards immediately • Ensures all company team members and contractors are adhering to the company safety policy • Maintains and organizes job sites, office storage facility, and equipment • Conducts customer survey at conclusion of project with objective of exceeding customer expectations and creating referrals Communication: • Provides thorough, timely, and effective communication • Builds open and honest relationships • Listens to and respect team members, clients, and vendors • Values constructive criticism Teamwork: • Builds productive, long-term relationships with clients, vendors, and others • Commits to common goals based on open and honest communication • Works together to bring out the best from our combined talents • Inspires others to maximize their potential
