What is a Logistics Coordinator?

A logistics coordinator is responsible for the overall coordination and management of all shipping, freight forwarding, receiving, palletizing and warehousing activities within a company. They work with various departments in order to ensure that products are received on time and in good condition. In addition, they may be involved in creating or managing warehouse schedules as well as product inventories.

What qualifications are required to become a Logistics Coordinator?

-A college degree in logistics or a related field is required.

-Experience working with freight and transportation systems is helpful but not mandatory.

- Strong analytical and problem solving skills are necessary as the coordinator will be responsible for managing complex logistical processes.

- Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal communication skills are essential as coordination of tasks across multiple departments requires frequent contact with various stakeholders.

- Improved organizational abilities are also beneficial as coordinators must manage schedules, prioritize work priorities, and create effective communication plans within their organization

What are the skills required to become a Logistics Coordinator?

1. Excellent organisational skills, able to prioritise and manage a high volume of information in a fast-paced environment.

2. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to effectively liaise with internal and external stakeholders.

3. Proven experience working within an logistics setting (either as an employee or consultant).

4. Knowledge of supply chain management principles including allocation planning, transportation modelling/optimization, warehousing/distribution network design etc..

5. Demonstrated ability to problem solve and think outside the box – essential for ensuring efficient logistical operations
