What are the skills required to become a Maintenance Technician?

1. Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems in buildings.

2. Experience with repair/maintenance procedures for specific building hardware and equipment.

3. Strong communication skills, including the ability to read schematics, understand blueprints, write technical reports and speak clearly on telephone lines or radio communications headsets.

4. Ability to use hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers etc., safely and efficiently (basic carpentry knowledge may be helpful).

5 . Keen eye for detail coupled with willingness to take initiative when needed
