What is a MEP MultiTech?

A MEP MultiTech is an electronic voting machine that prints out a paper ballot for each voter. The ballots are then scanned and counted by the machine.

What qualifications are required to become a MEP MultiTech?

• Must be a citizen of an EU/EEA member state or Switzerland.

• Must have resided in one of the 27 EU/EEA member states for at least 3 months within 6 years preceding application (except candidates from Cyprus and Malta).

• Be 18 years or older on January 1st of the year in which they will take office and meet all other eligibility requirements as set out by their country’s electoral authority. Candidates born before January 1, 1957 are not eligible to stand for election as MEP MultiTechs.

• Have full voting rights under national law and must also fulfil applicable political criteria established by each Parliamentarian constituency where elected. In most cases this means being registered as a voter within that constituency, although there may be some exceptions depending on specific rules laid down by each institution governing elections to European institutions. Parliamentary constituencies vary greatly in size so it is important to check with your own EP representative if you are considering standing for election!
